Hi, Im upgrading my laptops memory from 512mb to 2 gig RAM. Basicly because i want to play new pc games. I also wanted to replace my Graphic card, radeon x300, with a better one. However the guy from DELL told me that i couldnt replace my X300 on my Inspiron6000 laptop. But nor did he think it was neccecary.

So im wondering if anybody knows if my x300 is capable of running high demanding games on my laptop with 2 gig ram?
If not, anything i can do to make it so?

Check my specs in my dxdiag, note that i havent upgraded my memeory yet.

The x300 is a fairly low-end card. Will it run them? *Probably* Will it run them well? I guess it depends on your definition of "well." At low resolutions and low settings it might run decently.

Being a laptop, I don't think there's much you can do to upgrade. I only know of a few high-end laptops that have upgradeable video cards, and they basically use regular video cards like you'd find in a desktop.

I have the x200 chipset at home, and I do meet the minimum requirements for most games. I really don't know what the difference is between the x200 and x300... But it seems okay enough for me.

But I do plan on putting a video card in eventually.

I can play Civ4 flawlessly with my laptop with a x200 and I have no complaints at all. I guess the x300 should do the job as well.

What size maps you play?

I know i can run Civ4, but looking at my specs, I'm thinking I'd be limited to a smaller map.

My specs are on my sig. I play huge maps(all of my saved games are at least 750Kb) with 10 civs at least. All settings default, so I guess the more RAM you have the better.

First, it mainly plays great becasue civ 4 is not a very graphic intensive game. and x200 is an intergrated grapgics card, and the x300 is a PCI-express card.
