Can I do this?

I created a custom faction in SMAC/x. Is there any way that I can play this faction in SMAC? How do I go about it? Will I have to edit some files or what?

You can't play a custom faction on SMAC. Only in SMAX. If you have SMAX just select 6 factions from the original and then the custom. But if can't switch it to SMAC. IIRC.

What I believe you can do though is, apart from of course renaming the faction, is to go into a few select text-files and edit one faction's bonuses and flaws, to create the faction you were looking for. Altering the other specifics ( such as the Hive's automatic Perimiter Defence, University's Network Nodes etc ) might be more troublesome, but I'd guess it can be done.
