I've tried to figure this out by myself but need a little help, please. If I create a warrior in City "A" can I send him over to my City "B" to fight?

If I create a worker in City "A" can I send him over to build roads for my City "B?" (In other words, just as if he had been created in City B instead of A)

Would the results be the same if each of these had been created in City "B" instead of going over from City "A?"

I think they would each use up food in the original city they were created in. Not sure. And I think I read if you disband the unit, he has to be moved back to the original city first.

There isn't any difference. Workers and unit's don't require food- they just might cost money to support. The money comes from the general fund- not a specific city. You can disband anywhere, but must be in a (any) city to recover shields/money from disbanding.

The warriors or any unit can be used in any city. They are noit dependent upon the city they were created in. The support costs depend upon the government you are in and cost gold per turn for the more advance forms of government. In Depot they are free. There is no food cost for the units.

the workers are the same. They can be used all over your empire and the rest of the map if you like, not in just one city.

As for disbanding them (I am not sure why you want too?) but you can disband them in any city you like.

Thanks so much for your replies. That helps a lot. So now I can use them interchangeably. So if my City A is properous but my City B has been told their growth is so slow they can't produce a unit, I can send a worker from City A over and get things going.
Neat!

As for disbanding, I thought I read that sometimes you have old units scattered around and draining the treasury. That was my reason for thinking about disbanding.

Thanks again.

Actually, I often try to set aside one city purely for unit building. It's often my 2nd or 3rd largest city - needs good production capabilities, doesn't need libraries etc. and should probably be central to my empire. Build a barracks there first, and queue up the build orders to churn out one unit after another (e.g. a bunch of Horsemen, or Swordsmen, or whatever suits the times). That way they're all veterans (due to the barracks), and I can quickly get a few of them to each city while the other cities concentrate on their own growth.

Regarding disbanding. You can disband a unit anywhere - the only difference if you disband in a city is you get a few sheilds in return.

There's very good reason for disband obsolete units - especially if you cash flow is tight. I've often found that I can't afford to do a mass upgrade and I've already built enough new units (Riflemen for instance) anyway, so it saves money to disband them - and get a few shields added to you city. In fact why not move all those old spearmen over to a city that's struggling to build something - and disband them there - every bit helps.

You can disband in a city building Wonder, but the shields are lost.
