Is it possible to modify the game ?

making it calculate score beyond 2020 , replacing future techs with other techs of our fiction , allowing more wonders ...

allowing more units ...etc

If a patch available to make the game calculate score after 2020 it will encourage me to play more . ... I never conquest the whole world in diety level as i always need more time .

You could create a scenario, change the turn rate to month = turn, then when you finish up the tech tree/units, you could write another one, and keep playing forever!!!

Yeah!!!!

You cannot force the game to calculate score past 2020, as far as I know. You definitely cannot invent new wonders, but you can rename them in scnearios. Their effects cannot be modified.

Coincidentally, I just answered a post of yours in the Pyramids vs. Colossus thread.

Following up on my own comments to you in that thread, if you emphasize trade sooner, science and the entire game will accelerate. It will become trivial to not only build a spaceship in the 1800's, but land it too... at Deity, large map, 7 civs, raging hordes.

Oh, one more thing... you may want to try Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri... there is a lot more wonders, etc. in that game. It has a very different look and feel to it, but the basic underlying principles of Civ 2 are in it. I played a demo version of it from the internet once, but just could not get excited about it... but it is still an impressive game if you want to try it.

There are 3 thing you need to make the game "more fun."

1. A compiler
2. Vast knowledge of programming language(most probably c++ or vc++)
3. The source code

#1 is easy to obtain. However #2 and #3 are not so go figure.

Hi M8s

I found some modified CIV files around ... so I thought some other MODs may add more advances and make game extend beyond 2020 .

but it looks like these kinds of modifications must come directly from the game developers

Frankly I didn't concentrate on caravans and trade in my games, so for this reason i was unable to advance my research quickly and my game ends 2000+ . I will kee an eye on trade from now on .

For Starlifter :

U r always welcome in Egypt and I hope u have the time for more visits . I will reply independently about the pyramids in the other thread about pyramids or colossus.

I never played scenrios, I like to play the whole game , but if i made a scinario , can i customise it to a full game making turns last 20 years BC per turn?? I think 50 years make the game ends quickly .

about the Pyramids , I never knew what is the relation between it and food storage ... anyway , I will post more details in the other thread .

... so I thought some other MODs may add more advances and make game extend beyond 2020 .

There are two issues there... the first one is adding advances... indeed, you can do that. You can even jumble/rename the entire tech tree. All of that is relatively easy to do...

But making the game continue in the scoring mode beyond 2020 is not easily done, but maybe some like Cornmaster may have ideas about how to try it.

PS, you might try asking about game mods in the scenario threads. There are probably some experienced scenario makers in this Forum.
