Can you do this?

At the beginning of the game to choose to cut out certain techs? What I want to do is either 1. Not be aloud to research the techs that give you guns,tanks,planes or 2. Better yet just elimanate those units from the game. So noone can build Tanks,Planes,Musketeers,Marines and so on. I like fighting with Samuri but as soon as I reasearch gunpowder they take away my samuri this pisses me off. I want Samuri,War Elephants,Catupalts, and Spearman to be everyones army. Can this be done?

Hey there.. the easiest way is to search the forum

or just edit

CIV4TechInfos.xml

and rename

<bDisable>0</bDisable>

to

<bDisable>1</bDisable>

for all gunpowder related techs.. etc..

Oh and you probably want to make a copy of this file and put it in your
C:\Documents and Settings\Username\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CustomAssets\xml\technologies directory first before editing

The search is less than useful, unfortunately. There might be a way to disable individual units too, you'd have to check.
