Let's poll this. Are citizens allowed to run for more than one office during elections?
  • Yes, an unlimited number of offices
  • Yes, a limited amount of offices
  • No, only one
  • Abstain

If you want a limited amount of offices, please post how many you'd like and why.

EDIT: The poll will remain open for 3 days

err, i must have missed this discussion about this never mind, i voted for yes but a limited number.

I voted for yes, but they should be limited to a minumum of 3 offices and it does not matter on what branch.

One person / One Election Campaign. Let's make this fair. By only choosing to run for one Office, you open up opportunity for others to boldly place their names on other ballots. Quit hoggin' the ball and only run for one Office.

A minimum of 3 offices?  I take it that you mean a maximum? :)

I believe however that Cyc is right. Let us just limit the number of possible elections to 1. That's fair to anyone!

We tried limiting the number of elections to 1 for DG4 -- look what it got us. A majority of the elections were uncontested. There were a significant number with no candidates at all.

Let people run for more than one office! That way the citizens can decide which office they want the candidate to have.

That's pretty much what I mean, Dave. If all the vets put their names up on all the positions they want and we just pick and choose which one will get what, that sounds too much like a Garden Club for the Vets. Let them take their chances like the rest of the citizens. The way you propose is pretty much a chicken way of getting an Office.

If the Offices aren't filled by a Candidate (which I doubt will happen soon), let the President recruit some of the newer players to Office. Or if you're afraid the Vets will be too dissappointed when they don't walk away with a positon, that they will in deed walk away from the game, the President can even appoint them.

I said yes a limited number, i chose this simply because i think 2 should be a total, such as in the justice system and a minister. however only getting to do one job. it also allows newbies to get into the game as well giving them 2 opportunities.

Looks like we need a run-off poll here between options 2 and 3.

Isn't the outcome already marked by the 2 other votes for 'yes, unlimited'?
I would say to start a new poll to determine in how many elections everyone can participate. (@cyc: I also regret that there isn't a majority for the no option, but I think that another run-off poll would be a waste of time here, since there is a majority for the 'yes' option :()
