Cannot install CIV on Vista - setupdll.cpp issue

Hi All,

I continue to get the following message when trying to install on Vista:

Error Code: -5004 : 0x80070002
Error Information:
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (3085)

I have tried everything I have found on this forum including deleting the installshield folder, updating Vista to as current as possible (SP2), and running setup as administrator. Unfortunately none of this has worked. I was able to install Civ colonization without a problem if that matters at all. Does anyone have any more ideas I could try? Thanks.

just checking you did delete the installshield folder and not the installshield installation information one, correct?
did you reboot after doing so?

yes, I deleted C:\program files (x86)\installshield

Is this folder located anywhere else that I should delete?

it might be in \program files\common files\

I have the exact same problem, and I can't figure out how to fix this at all. I'm using a brand new gaming laptop with windows vista and nothing is working to fix this problem

I installed Civ IV under Vista Home Premium on a 2.1 GHz, 3 GB machine. I can't find the cursor when Civ IV starts up. Help
