Cannot proceed :-(

Hi guys, i have a question.

I have explored all my reachable land, but cannot explore the rest of the world as the entrance is blocked by (hostile) greece. Going to war is not an option as their army is alot bigger then mine. Also trespassing isnt allowed as they will attack me. Any ideas? thanks guys!

The entrance to the "rest of the world"? Are you completely surrounded by them or what?

Also, you could just make an open borders pact to allow your scouts to explore their lands.

There is one entrance (valley) to the rest of the map and its blocked :-(
As Greece hates me, they wont allow open borders.

Why do you want to go there anyway? Just build up in your current position and thrive!

Iam a new player of Civ. What do you mean? build my city's bigger and stronger until i can invade? (resources are depleting you know)

I'm having trouble understanding your situation, but yes, if Greece is blocking your advancement you should either find other places to explore and expand to (like cross the sea) and possibly just focus on your existing cities instead of finding new places to build in. Civilization V works very well even if you only have a handful of powerful cities.

OK you all forgot something here, i do this and it's rather funny, make a priest then send it out to scout for you it can walk right tough the closed borders

Sort of depends how far you are in. Do you not have optics or navigation to get any further by sea? If he is blocking you and you're going to stagnate because of it, we'll maybe it's time for some of your troops to head that way and clear it up. If you already have enough room to expand nicely and grow your cities I can't see a reason why you need to go there anyway. Play the cards your dealt, assess the situation, think of how you can work around it. Civ isn't only about learning all the buildings and units, it's about using your ability to think ahead and plan for what's next.

options:
Get Writing-get open borders with Greece*

Get Optics-bring your scout back to your territory, then move through the water*
(if Greece is blocking the coastal water, get astronomy as well to get out into the ocean)

Build a Missionary/Great Prophet (the missionary can only go so far without open borders)

Get Satellites, see the whole world

Get Nanotechnology, drop Xcom units wherever you like.



*these are the only 2 that apply if you are trying to send settlers out past Greece
