cannot uninstall civ 4

i have deleted everything in the civ 4 folder and when i go to the control panel to uninstall i get this message : Error Code: -5004 : 0x80041f42

I have the exact same problem, it wouldn't uninstall for me the first time, then i tried to delete everyhting manually and i still cant uninstall it, or reinstall BTS again, any help here? cant play game at all anymore

I had the same, but with the vanilla version... I can help you if you have the CD or at least a virtual drive image (.iso, .bin, .cue)...

if you manually remove the game you need to also remove the registry entries - the errors already tell you which entry to remove for a reinstall:

CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8

for civ4

and

32E4F0D2-C135-475E-A841-1D59A0D22989

for bts

that sounds similar to what i have to do buttt.... where do i find these registry entries?

if thats a dumb question i apologize

the registry entries are in the windows registry - you can edit that using the command
regedit
NEVER change anything there without a backup of the registry you could make your system unbootable

You can also google tweaknow regcleaner, which does the job automatically and can clean others things up from the register.

I manually dragged the files from the civ folder to the trash bin and deleted them, then instead of trying to uninstall, i just installed and it worked for me.
