I have a couple of questions that require only a quick answer:

1. I've seen people mention a tax slider. Where is it? And how do you use it?

2. I've seen the letters GOTM quite frequently. What do they stand for?

Hit F1 for the city screen. The Tax and Luxury sliders are at the top.

GOTM : Game of the Month.

Tax Slider - Look at the first advisor screen. You can change the science and luxery sliders and then you get the money thats left over...

Damn beaten to it...

Thanks. I thought it was a way of increasing taxes globally that I hadn't seen yet. I tend to keep my luxury slider at zero because it tends to cost a lot of money to move it up. Why give the citizens anything when they can pay for it? Besides it takes away from my ability to build my military.

Yeah, me neither. I figure all those temples, colessiums, cathedrals, wonders, and luxuries pretty much take care of things. You can easily get "We love the Tyrant" day without moving that luxury bar.

In my nation, during times of war we treat food as a luxury item. I prefer to micromanage cities.

--- 80 shields/turn! Yes! Oh, shortage? Hmmm.... Okay when one pop dies I'll only lose an entertainer and still have 1:1 happy to unhappy.

Quote for the day: "Madame, we only have one source of wines. We should acquire more luxuries and trade them with our friends."

Damn whiners. And what friends?

I'm too lazy to micromanage. Maybe I'll do it in my next game. The ai city governors seem to handle things ok, but if I want a city to really put out shields or something, then I'm probably better off handling it myself.

Starving your population to achieve production quotas. My thoughts on it? Allow me to quote the honorable Mr. Abe Lincoln:

"Now that's a job well done, don't you think?":goodjob:
