Can't Open WOTM3

I am new to WOTM, and didn't realize a mod had to be installed to play WOTM3. So I downloaded the HOF-2.08.001 file and ran the install. When I tried to open WOTM3 I get the following error after Civ4 loads:

"The save file you have selected is protected to ensure that the assets in your mod folder have not changed."

What the hell does this mean? What can I do to be able to play this savefile?

It probably means that you have changed some of the assets files in your install folders.

Are you running any other mods (eg. the CivScale tool that comes with the blue marble terrain modpack)? Have you patched warlords to version 2.08?

Yes, I am running the CivScale thing from Blue Marble. Is there a way to uninstall it?

Good question! I really don't know. Does it come with an option to restore everything back to normal (default) sizes? If so, then that might solve the problem.

Ok - I just checked.

Start civscale, and in the drop-down box, select 'original graphics scalings' on teh graphics tab, and 'original text scalings' on the text tab.

OK, reran civ scale and set the graphics and text back to the original settings, but I am still getting the same error. This is very tricky... it would be nice if the error were more specific about what in particular has been modified, because I feel that I have no recourse to be able to play GOTM or WOTM files.

The usual "recourse" is to uninstall the game, and reinstall it.

Unfortunately, this is correct.

Make sure that once you've uninstalled, go to the installation location, and delte all files that are left-behind.

Hi, maybe this answer is a little late...

I had the same problem earlier, couldnt open the wotm's. Tried to re-install worlords, the patch, and HOFm but with the same result (and the exact same error message you get).

The solution was kind of almost to simple... i was installing the HOF Mod into:
C:\WINNT\Profiles\Administrator\My Documents\My Games\Warlords\MODS
and it wasnt working.

Then i tried to simply install it into:
D:\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Warlords\Mods
and it works fine.

By the way, i have come across a few people who had the same problem and doing this made it work.
