I need help. I've owned Civ V since release, and have never been able to play a game on LAN. I'm frustrated with dealing with 2K's support team who are completely useless, so i hope someone here can help.
Here's the deal - I try to play on LAN with my friend. We both have steam copies of the game, now with G&K as well. No matter who hosts, or on what computer, the end result is the same, when one of us tries to join, we immediately get the "Error Joining Multiplayer Session" message. And i mean immediately, almost like the game isnt even trying to connect.
We've installed copies of the game through steam on 4 different PCs and on all of them ensured the software firewalls and antivirus software was totally disabled. All four of these PCs can easily connect to each other to share files or play any other game that supports TCP/IP. But just not Civ V. We even tried directly connecting our NICs and manually assigning IPs, to the same result - we can see the host, but can't join him.
What am i missing? How can i make this work?
