So I am playing a game of Capture the princess and I finally take over Constantinople and the Byzantine princess. However, my units cannot capture her. Does anyone know why this might be?

If I recall correctly, capture the princess mode only works in the scenarios. I know in the scenarios, you get a button to pick the "princess" up. It is a circle with a sort of yin/yang symbol on it. I admit, I've never tried it in the epic game. It does work in the scenarios.

Well, I know that it works in scenarios but the manual says that it is the reverse capture the flag that only works in scenarios. Besides, why would the princess unit appear in the game and have values for points and gold if I am not technically allowed to capture it? I just remembered also that I have tried using CivEdit to set up a scenario where capture the princess was set, and I made sure that all units had the ability to "capture" before loading it, and it still didn't work. I appreciate the help, but I still think that it should work. If you know anything else that may be of use to me, I welcome any additional info.

Here is the target to pick up.
Here is the button.
Here is the unit carrying the "princess", actually it is capture the flag, but it works the same way

Yeah, I have done that scenario and it worked fine, but, correct me if I'm wrong, that is the "reverse capture the flag" scenario, isnt it? I believe it is the "middle ages" one, and if that is the case, then it is reverse ctf, not regular. If you can tell me how you got those pictures from the game, then I can show you what my situation is. The only way I know to get a screen shot is to use ctrl+prt scr, and that doesnt let me crop the file to the way I need it.

what I meant to say is, shift+prt scr, and it will let me crop it, but I don't know how to upload the image into the message.

You can go to Imageshack.com, Photobucket.com, Shutterfly.com which are free image hosting websites. You can upload your screenshots there and then you can paste the img tags here in a post.

This is what my pevious email looked like when I posted it

I added the periods to this, to keep it from just displaying the picture

Okay, well this is my second attempt at ctp, and as I have indicated in the picture, there is no "capture" or "seize relic" button. I even tried building my palace in that city to see if that would work, and it doesnt. So, as you can see, I have a cavalry in the same square as the princess, and I cant capture. What do you think? Just so you know, this is actually from a scenario I created in CivEdit. Before starting, I made sure all offensive units had the "capture" box checked for unit actions in the rules.

Try waking the princess, but it probably won't help. I think the folks in the mods and scenarios forum might have some info I don't, since I am not good with the editor. I know that capture the princess works in the firaxis scenarios, so it should work.

It's from the middle ages scenario, there are 4 tribes with relics that need to be delivered to Jerusalem. I think the age of exploration has resource units that work the same way, only you send them to your capital. Reverse capture the flag and capture the princess work the same way, you grab the item(which has 0 movement), and carry it to a target. It only seems to work in the firaxis scenarios.

can you turn on capture the princess in epic games and how does it affect the game?

Noticed theres an option to check it off in the game selection screen but I've never tested it.

I think it would bollix the game, just like the OP's game. It was a firaxis thing to make the game faster, but it never really worked, except in scenarios. Add it to the list of things that don't work, but should.
