Hey guys, just started playing Civ again asd I have some time free at the moment. I captured the sistine chapel, but didn't appear to get the 11 (i think) culture that it gives to that city. Is it because I captured it, or because I havent researched theology? The city's out of revolt now and still no culture. Any ideas would be appreciated.

If I were to capture the Hanging Gardens would I get the +1 population bonus, or is that a one-time ordeal?

If yes, then does the AI receive the same bonus for recapturing it, or at that point is it "Only one bonus for each Civ" whenever captured, and recapturing does nothing?

It's important because I'm currently facing a domination problem. I don't want to mess up my relations with the lovely Catherine who controls about 20% of the world's land and is quite friendly with me (apparently I am her hero, I'm everything she would like to be). So I'm looking at either taking out Isabella, who is annoyed because I've pushed Confuscianism around the continent and she is a devout HINDU (despite having the option to convert to Christianity, which she founded). However on the other hand Rome has both Pyramids and the Hanging Garden and they're much weaker. The only wonder that interests me is the Gardens because it would help me get over the population barrier since I already have a TON of cities (+1 to each would be great). If not I'd be better off taking out Isabella and getting her out of the way.

Also considering just gifting mass media when I get it to Rome and letting Caesar build the UN. I would easily win diplomatic victory at that point since Catherine and I control probably 60-70% of the population. Decisions, decisions.

The pop boom of the hanging gardens is a one time effect like the oracle. If you capture the HG you will be +1 health in your cities but no more people. Otherwise, you could abusive things with wonders like gaining fusion by capturing the oracle from a backward civ or letting another civ build the hanging gardens and capturing it for a milking score boost at the end of the game.

I ended up having the decision made easier for me. Ghengis and Isabella went to war and I started building up my military front on the Spanish borders. Within a couple of turns Ghengis came knocking at my door asking for help, and of course I gladly joined the fray. About to capture the Spanish civ with relative ease thanks to some massively promoted infantry going against longbowmen and the occasional grenadier. I am finding myself fighting a lot of 99% battles, which is to say, I should probably just keep marching east till I wipe out Mansa on the other half of the continent as well. I will have the land needed for domination with his territory and perhaps some of Caesars.

Probably going to move up to Prince now that I've learned how much easier it is to be a warmonger and how focusing on research in only a few key cities and producing military in others is a better strategy.

How about gifting the city with The Oracle back and forth between two players to give both every tech in the game.
