flippin Erisian discordian mischief makers ;)

hail eris! all hail discordia! ;-) now back to topic:

octavian:
we should make bureaus for the specific tasks. like one for the mapmaking and one for maintaining provincial border discussions and proposals. i volunteer for the provincial border bureau. i propose you for the mapmaking bureau. maybe we need one naming bureau too.

mapmaking bureau:
making and updating maps of any kind. also collection of base data for mapmaking (on an international base).

provincial border bureau:
maintain and push forward discussion of provincial borders. open threads and polls for provincial border redesign

landmark naming bureau:
collect names of landmarks from citizens and push forward discussion for names of landmarks. if necessary post polls for landmark names.

Sorry for the delay. I must ask that this thread be moved back to the Citizen's fourm, as I wished for discussion on maps. The way I understand the CoS, offices dealing with Role Playing be placed in the RPG forum.

As to your 'bureaus', dis, I like that idea only for a seperate thread for provincial threads. When necesary, I will start discussions when needed. Maps can be submitted and discussed here. I will have a mod clean this thread reqularly. As to the landmarks, these are all controlled by governors. We may lobby for them to add names.

Well, in fact thats what an office-thread is for. Discussion on the topic of the office.

I am, of course, maybe for moving ALL offices to another forum as they have nothing to do with the rpg. But this would include a rule-change i guess?

Not only rpg-offices are placed here, but all offices, like chat etc.

@octavian:
i think we maybe have bureaus for the topics and with that people who "care" about the topic, like lobbying the naming of landmarks. we can spawn as many discussion topics from here to the citizen forum anyways. like we need new provincial border->discussion thread for it with link in here.

What I'm saying is that every time we need to discuss a new province and her borders, a new discussion will be started, rather than creating a single thread that's bound to get congested.
Basically, I completely agree with you.

If people feel it approitiate, we could set up a new thread for discussing landmark names. My idea would be that every time a new province if official formed, a new discussion will be started, where citizens may suggest names for landmarks. After the proposals are submitted, we give it to the governor for final approval.
Remember, he controls landmark naming in his province. If he declines to name things, the torch is passed to the CoC.

octavian: i completely agree to you in all points. the bureaus were not meant to be seperate threads, but maybe designating some parts of the cartographic office work to dedicated members of the office. this would encourage them to concentrate on their speicalized work.

example:
this thread will be the collection point and the base of all cartographic discussion and request. it will as well be a kind of index of the spawned discussions about special topics (like border-redesign).

the 3 bureaus will act as follows:
office head / cartographic bureau:
get requests and initialize drawing or do drawing of the maps himself. some standard maps (like geographical) will be done without request. maps are posted in the coresponding main-forum thread (even the requested special maps should go there for easy searching).
the sense of this bureau is the actual map drawing.

provincial redesign bureau
this bureaus surveyor travels thru the provinces and listens on requests to redesign the borders. he will be responsible for having a thread spawned out of the office for each redesign proposal which comes up. he will also be responsible for putting up the poll and requesting the maps according to the proposal.
the sense of this bureau is to get a continuous discussion on provincial borders going. the small changes to make them look better or fit better to governmental management. all those small things which were discussed in multiple threads in g1 should be brought together here.

lanmark naming bureau
the responsible surveyer will also travel through our nations provinces and will ask the citizens what the names of their landmarks are. he will try to find out every landmarks name for which a name seems appropriate. if needed, he will also spawn discussions on this topic and initiate polls.
normally the governors will give him the names of the landmarks, as they are the ones to name them. if they dont, it will be up to the citizen to choose one.
the main scope of that bureau is to initiate discussion on the names, not to decide themselves. they could also propose names to the governors, for example, for them to decide upon.

Of course, the bureaus will help each other out, for example all could help drawing maps or initiate discussions in other threads. Maybe during the travel of a border-surveyer, some landmark name gets heard by him and so he will tell the landmark-bureau this name to initiate discussion in the appropriate province thread.

I think dis' ideas are very helpful this early in the game to help organize what does and doesn't fall under the cartograqhic office. Some of the bureaus will likely spawn many discussion threads and polls, others will not. But it is a good way to think of how these topics fall out.

I'm very interested in the eventual discussions on landmark naming a province design/redesign

Ok, so am i for the border redesign.

I propose the following:
Octavian: Cartographic Bureau / Main Office
Disorganizer: Border Redesign Bureau
Danke: landmark naming bureau

(or whatever we would call them)

Dear Head of department, what are your thoughts?
We could of course get a endless number of helpers in addition to this. The job of the bureaus would only be to push those topics forward so they dont come to a stop. Any help will still be welcome.

After all, its you decission octavian on how to organize ;-) Anyway i would like to help and push forward the above topic. The bureaus was just an organizational idea ;-)
