well i have had warlords for 2 days, and my first game was with the celts. *i tried a few others as carthage but had no hourses at all any whear near me, so i quit*

i realy do like the his traits, the spir/char.
and the uu, isnt as bad as what i was thinking it whould be.

if u have a baracks u can right waway give him gurrila 2, so dobble movement in hills.
same with dun, it opens units to the gurrila line of promotions..

*i started right next to alot of hills, so my civ choice was a good one*

what do others think of the celts after playing them?

I tried them for my first game; seems OK, except I started building axes in a city with a Dunn (sp?) and ... no GI promotion ... archers got it, as did warriors, but not axes??? Seemed quite odd. Haven't had time to see if it is repeatable.

I experienced the same. I don't know about warriors, but to me it seems that only units which have this path of promotion anyway can have this extra promotion. Disappoints me.

I had a quick game as Brennus and was pleasantly surprised myself, I certainly agree it's all to do with location, but I found the unique qualities a good thing to build around in a game.

I've enjoyed being him and Ragnar the most so far. Though Hayuna Capac was my favourite civ leader till they changed him for warlords so that explains why I like the Viking so much! Will try a game with the celts again soon, it'll help me make up my mind better!

are u sure axmen didnt get it??
my axmen had it, so did my spear men, archers, galic warriors and a few more *cant rember thear names.*

yea, the gallic sowrdsman whouldnt be much of anything with out any hills near by to take advatage off. off to the right of me was mail, and between me and him was about 20!! plots of hills!! the mail allso controled all of the hill land at the out break of war too.
the gallic warriors, with the gurrilla 1, 2, and a few with 3 worked wonders in defeating the mail. without them, or the duns to give my other forces faster movement in the hillands, my atack whould have gone at a snails pace.

later on, once all the hilland was mien, i atacked the spanish with them allso.
the spanish had few hills. but the ones thay did whear in ranges, this alowed me to travle on the hills like thay whear roads strait to thear larges cities.
my troops allso defeated every counter atack thay made becus of the deffensive terrain my troops stayed in..

next i think ill give the ottomans a try.

lol, i checked and my axmen start with it.

My axes weren't getting it.

I think this is true...only archery, recon and gunpowder units get guerilla I from the dun.

Another thing to consider:

Free upgrade = Free power = Computer less likely to attack.

I'm still playing with the Celts. So far I like it alot. I always liked the Galic Swordsman. Not because of power or anything like that, just because I think they're neat.

I may have been wrong about the warriors; I'll check later today. Very disappointed if it is only certain units that get the free promotion.

The one problem is even though gunpowder units are allowed to get Guerilla promotions, the dun goes obsolete with rifling. So really musketmen and grenediers are the only gunpowder units that can get it, unless you upgrade old archery units that already had the guerilla promotion.

Just completed a game as Brennus. the Cha/Spi combination is awesome, zero happiness problems. The UU was mediumly useful, as was the UB but that was mainly due to the game being unusually hill heavy (lots of hill settlements/chokepoints). Plus the city music is the coolest I've heard yet.
