[CEP] Korea never shows up

I don't know if this is caused by CEP or the base game, but after 50-ish games (all with various versions of CEP) it has occurred to me that I haven't met Korea as an AI opponent even once. I play on Huge with 12 civs and I have met all the others (I think) several times each.

Am I the only one this has happened to?

Hmm...
Interesting question. You are right the selection of civs that are picked for AI opponents isn't directly affected by the mod, but the map type/size and terrain biases may be involved.

It does appear to me that I see the same civs a lot of the time but I would be hesitant to say I have never seen one or another ever. That also is because I only play standard size maps with only a handful of major civs.

I reckon this just might be one of those 'keep an eye on it' phenomena.

To test whether or not this is the case, add 22 civs to a map and start a new game. Then use IGE to check whether Korea has spawned. 21/43 (~48.8%) chance of showing up. Repeat this six times and Korea will likely show up at least once (~98.2%). If he hasn't shown up once (and assuming you have the Korea DLC) then there's likely a problem.

EDIT: Actually, doing the math on your 50 12-civ games, the likelihood of Korea not showing up at least once should be very close to 0. Are you sure you have the Korean DLC activated?

To be fair, I didn't get to the point where I'd met all civilizations in every game before I abandoned them, but at least half of the games had me meeting all the other civs. I thought about it because I've played as Korea a few times now, so yes, the DLC is definitely activated. :)

There are a few other civs I haven't seen in a while (Gandhi, Gajah Mada, Isabella), but Sejong is the only one I've never seen.

(Sorry for the possibly all over the place post its late and I had an idea and wanted to write it down)
I have to add my input and say that I seems to always get Sejong as an opponent in my games. If you want to confirm if there really is funny business going on, an empirical test needs to be done as outlined by stackpointer above.
When dealing with numbers as small as these (7 civs + human player out of 43) its it not entirely unlikely that you won't encounter a certain leader. I certainly don't play enough games to encounter all the leaders. I can run the combination formulas on it and post my work later (it's late for me).

The experiment

Spoiler :

Null Hypothesis: If "random leaders" are not truly selected randomly, then in a series of many games, the leaders selected will not exhibit an even distribution.

Experiment: Add n amount of "random leader" Civ's (including human player) to a map and use IGE to see what civs exist. This will be a trial. Do at least 20 trials.
Repeat each series of 20+ trials for n=6,8,10,12 as these represent the number of civs normally found in each map size.

I personally think that the system in place works but if anyone wants to perform this experiment, be my guest and keep a well documented record of your findings.

Huh. I started the test you described (Huge Comunitas map, 12 civs), and in the first 4 games, Korea showed up 3 times...

So I guess It's just been statistics playing a trick on me.
