CET PTW multyplayer converence corner

Personally I like the idea of a "great Dutch game". :) One game with eight of us, which undoubtly will take a lot of sessions! :jump:

It does however require a lot! We need to decide a date for every time we play and you must show up then or cancel it some time before.

Best would be to either play every evening (from 19:00 till 23:00) and cancel when someone has another appointment (or homework  ). That way it won't take too long. :)
Alternatively we could play every sunday evening, since usually everybody is at home at sunday evening.

Who would be willing to give it a try when we have PTW?

By the way (1), are there people here who won't buy PTW immediately?
By the way (2), I find AllDutch rather plain. :undecide: I'm still in for De Aardappeleters...

ASSUMPTION: you're talking PBEM here (???)

Great! I will buy it as soon as it arrives. 8 players (!), I am in! Allthough I cannot garantee every night/evening. But if we plan ahead, every week (a schedule), it must be possible to make great progress every week! Planning ahead might reduce people from last-minutel-cancelling!

I don't care about what we call it, but i thought AllDutch had everything in it and everybody understands it (it's English)...

Yeah I saw it, but isn't PBEM turn-based too... (that's why the assumption) ;)

It's OK for me, but will be a lot more difficult to arrange (that won't hold me off nor scare me away ). I have ADSL, hopefully the others have a fast connection too and direct IP must be available by then (it must be  ).

As I said, I'm OK with it. Maybe we should poll it? I would like to know what the others think about it.

Great idea, don't care how slow the game progresses, I'll play!

It will take a lot of planning, especially with 8 people having to have time available at the same time but I'm sure that everyone can find or make some time for such an event (at least) once a week. Also, participants will have to be able to swallow some of the unfairness of civ3's combat system, or a crappy starting position.
With 8 players, there will always be someone at 8th, and thus last, position, and I assume we don't want players quitting in midgame after already countless hourts of playing and planning ahead.

Guess if it happens to me, I can always try and sign an "Aardappeleters alliance" with Matrix... :scan: ;)

Indeed, we don't want people to quit too fast. I myself never have trouble with performing bad. It's a thing I learned with the GOTM. ;)

But I think I really need to find out how PBEM works. :o

Edit: Checked! But I won't like it. Playing "live" is far more fun! :)

Read the pioneer thread, seems they have a lot of fun too me...! I don't mind playing PBEM. It looks far more manageable (allthough we have no reports about turn based :( yet) and less restricted to time/schedulling. But the game will take much longer with 8 players. That s*cks....

I guess I can play some evenings, here at the university I've got some huge download/upload capacity, so that'd make this computer a great server.

But

I'm

Very

Busy

But then again, who isn't.
Aardappeleters? That doesn't sound menacing enough.

I'm CET and currently installing PTW and looking for a PBEM game :D
I got some time today on this WE. I gotta do sum stuff for university but will check my e-mail often enough :D

You got it fast! Lots of us have to wait some weeks. I saw another CET-guy (from denmark, http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=35871 ) had it too!

Good luck!

Just canceled my pre-order at EBGames, saving 30 bucks of shipping cost for a game that apparently needs another patch before it usable.

Doesn't change the plans however, 22-nov is marked in my agenda.

I kinda like AllDutch, but is it menacing enough? How about DutchBat? Not that those guys were menacing yet is has the sound to it.

How about Dudge Dread, bringer of justice for all.

Sounds... funny! I guess it will require a lot of explaining to outsiders on how that name was brought up. :)

Although, as a law student nearing graduation, I'm not totally comfortable with those last three words, the situation should indeed be solved by making a compromise.

Besides, we're all Dutch, so how else could we reach a decision? ;)

that sounds better and more realistic. You don't wanna know how hard it can be to eat a potatoe sometimes. Especially when my mom didn't cook them ling enough...:p
