With "character" I mean to describe the player's character in the game. E.g. they may be hostile, or friendly. And more importantly (for human players) whether they're to be trusted.

Overall, a description of their playing style.

Have any map settings been decided, or are some/all of them to be random?

Knowing the map size (and any map choices) is kinda important to me when I choose a civ to play. On my own, I normally randomise everything apart from the map size.

I guess if we make it to 8 civilizations, a standard map will do.

One question - can the UU's still be upgraded as per civ3 v1.29? The PTW civlopedia is missing the upgrade links as in the first civ3 release...

AFIAK PTW has the CIVIII 1.29f patch standard on it. But about the upgrades I am not sure.

I've changed my mind about being the Celts (damn early golden age messing up my game). I wanna choose again, I will re-read the new civs when I get home. (I would be the Egyptions, but that would be unfair )
