Civ3 has some names with city issues:

Some are wrong in any language - e.g. Heidelburg instead of Heidelberg.

Some are double: Agade / Akkad.

Constantinople and Istanbul are okay to some extent, but some city name lists are very short, and some city names simply suck.

MANY historically important cities or simply big cities have been left out, too.

There have been numerous projects on Civfanatics, for different eras and nations, why do the persons who ran them (calgacus did a great job afaik) send their work to Firaxis for use in Civ4.

It is a simple improvement, but it is also quite simple to improve/fix this little demand.

Hi Doc, the list has the German names, not the English ones.

I could supply Firaxis without problems with a German city names list, but some players did lists for dozens of nations.

There is alot of great graphics artists here as well. Maybe if Firaxis needs graphics help they can get it from some CFCers here? They could be rewarded with a free copy of the game, or something. :)

I agree.

I see no problems if the list/files are given to Firaxis without any further claims or copyrights of any kind.

I guess many modders / artists / history buffs would be happy to do so, even without a little reward.

Things like Sumer being the Sumerian capital, instead of Ur of the Caldeans (or however it is spelt)....... :D

I think the American city list needs to be changed as well. Cities like Charlotte and Charleston aren't even on there.

I completely agree.
The city lists are very bad and it would take so little to change it. We are lots of people who are willing to help with city names. It really sucks to end up with cities like New Paris 3 or similar if you don't find names yourself.
