For this challenge you must choose one Egyptian leader to play as and the other as an opponent e.g. If you are playing as Rameses II then one of your Opponents should be Hatshepsut.

Interesting. I have never considered score as an own winning condition, except in time games tiebreaker.

So there are perhaps some interesting turns where it can be smart to call it a day?

That's the balance, when do you stop - read some of the threads about Sushi or this external one, albeit we have a different map type here.

Generally, for normalized score, one would pursue conquest or domination, with domination usually leading to higher scores. There's is going to be a "sweet spot" for victory, and it is somewhat relative to what you have achieved in the early game. I can't remember the exact dates but I think around 1400AD or so, scores start to drop more rapidly...such that it is really hard to make gains in score - things just plateau. So basically you want to get as much land as you can as soon as you reasonable can...one way or another....and at some point let your cities just grow as much as they can. Land and Pop are going to be the main drivers of score. If you go corps the sooner the better, although I think you can get get some pretty respectable scores without Corps by achieving more sooner and finishing in the early to mid ADs.

Does this mean that you can submit an ordinary HoF game without a victory, but with a great score, it still count in the Machiavelli slot for score?

No - you still have to win but it can be by any method.
