This is simple request to the developers: let us name our units. This would achieve the following effects:
1) More flavor. It would be much more satisfying to see "Legio IX" above my unit's head rather than "Warrior" or "Swordsman".
2) Easier identification of units when marshalling forces. If I know that "Legio IX" is my specialist open field unit (shock promotions), I can keep its position more easily in view than having to scroll over the unit and look at its promotions. This may sound minor, but I think it would really make holding the various promotions in mind much easier in the "heat" of turn-based combat.
This should be very easy to code, and I think would add something to the game. Obviously the length of the allowed text in the name field is the biggest constraint. You don't want unit names like "Chewbacca's Freaktastic Mongol Punchers" that take up half the screen. What says the forum?
