Oh well .. might as well let them rip ...

Besides the "currenty discussed large scale issues" (corruption, one tile bases formed, bases garrisoned with 10 elite units converting back to the enemy with your units to boot, computer warriors walking all over a human walled up, fortified pikeman in a city, etc)

1. Respect for Borders
Arg .. this is the one that urks me the most. For the most part, borders are pretty sacred, until war time. At that time the computer just thinks it can trounce across your borders with 50 tanks to attack another civilization accessable by your roads. In the mean time the other civ is sending 25 horseman to attack the tanks turning your country into a battle field. Ummm NO! If you ask them to leave 50% of the time they decide to attack you.

Maybe a new option should be installed in the diplomacy screen called "war time right of passage" or something like that.

2. Ships? Ships? I dont want to see your stinking ships!
Arg .. war time starts and the next thing you see are 50 gazillon ships flying by. I swore I shut them off but they still seem to show up.

This sucks time up between turns.

Maybe a new "Ignore ships" button needs to be installed.

3. Computer build speed

Pleeeeeaaasseee ... I am working my arse off with 40 workers and the computer already had its complete land developed over 1000 years ago. And this is warlord level. If the computer gets an advantage .. fine .. but 1 turn mines being built into mountains is just insane. I can keep up in regards to "expansion" but by doing so, sacrifice science, money, etc.

4. All Civ GUI interface programmers must retake "Interfaces 101" again.

Here ... click this period ---> . Get the idea

Or how about doing an upgrade of a unit, the darn dialog box is a mile away from where the unit was (and then you have to focus on the little circle) A small "task" bar for all the keystrokes (ctril-e anyone) would have been nice .. and meaning small being LARGER then the tiny little boxes they currently have. This pseudo XP interface is crap.

In summary as stated by many .. great game .. but they just did not play test it to the fullest. The interface is pretty darn rough if you ask me, the AI is as fine tuned as a AMC Pacer, and there are some major oversights that leads me to believe that Civ III got pushed out the door a few months ahead of time (Can we say "Christmas").

I see your point on point one. In my experience, the only time a cvi crosses my border is to threaten me, or move troops. Sometimes I let them go because I cannot afford a war, but I know your frustration. I don't think this is a bad thing, after all the enemy civ is dicking with you, but I feel your pain :)

I wish they would expand the role of the UIN. I like to see it better integrated in the game besides the typical diplomatic victory. I think they did a wonderful thing in SMAC with the UN and its ashame to see such a limited role in Civ3. For now, I simply disable the diplomatic victory.
