Couple of things I've noticed. All my playing has been done in Emperor.

1. Luxury resources are now not as clumpy as before. I see lots of single tile luxuries. This means that getting all 8 resources for happiness might be more difficult in the future but getting 4 or 5 will be easier.

2. Workers are now very expensive. ~110 gold is the deal point now for workers on Emperor.

Post other things you've noticed...

3. Great new Barb targeting system. They'll hunt for empty cities over full ones, workers over full cities. They'll fortify themselves on hills rather than attack your exploring unit, hoping you do the attacking. Very cool.

4. AI is much more defensive. They like to build lots of defensive units in their core now, reports of 12+ in Middle Ages.

I havent played SP long enough to see if they are more defensive, but i noticed them using a warrior to defend a city in the early game (never did that before that i recall). Also techs seem to be more expensive to purchase, as well as apparently slave workers from other civs.

Barbarian AI is much improved, i love the new barb AI. I cant wait to see how the civs do full out invasions and attacks, to see if anything has changed.

Has anyone gotten into a nval battle? Has anything changed there?

4.

have seen that already with 1.17 (?), having to fight 20 or more defenders - all state of the art. One of the reasons I went back to 1.16 back then - the AI had so many units it should have been broke - but was happily researching at 90%.... :(

Hmmm this sounds like one of the best patches yet. I like the sound of the change to the luxury resources and the barbarian improvements.

I know things can varry quite a bit from game to game so I don't know if it's the game I'm playing or PTW.

I've noticed that the AI participates in much fairer deals when it comes to resources and luxuries, even if my relationship is not that great with the AI they still very often trade luxury for luxury or sometimes they will even give me two for my one. Before it always seemed I would have to give much more then the AI unless I was up to Gracious Relationship with them.

3. The Barbs also like to pillage more than before.

4. This depends on the Victory Conditions enabled. In Mass and Regular Regicide, Capture the Flag/Princess, and Elimination, the AI definitely heavily defends their city/ies because it is a lot easier to lose in those games.
