Changing default start conditions

Is there any way to change the defaults in the advanced setup menus? There are certain settings I want for every game (always quick combat, and usually large, epic, and fractal). I hate learning 10 turns in that I'm stuck in slow combat.

Tells how to make quick combat the default. I imagine similar lines can be added to that file to tweak any of the settings, but I'm not sure what the lines are. They may be obvious from looking in the file.
