changing diff level?

is it possible to change difficulty level midgame? im playing regent, and my tech advantage is INSANE, like steam power, feudalism!! i want more of a challenge


p.s. if it sounds like i bragging... dont take it that way. this is my first time ive come close to winning on regent!!!
