Changing from PTW1.14 to 1.21

I'm posting it here because others will probably have the same question.

On monday the new English 1.21 PTW patch will be released and I was wondering if we were allowed to patch the 1.14 game to 1.21. I'm also playing a few PBEM games and I would prefer to switch immediately but I was wondering if it's allowed for the GOTM.

Technically it is allowed, but my recommendation to you is to do the trick of making a copy of your existing /CIV3PTW folder and rename the folder to be /Civ3PTWv1_14.

To save disk space in the v1_14 version you can delete all the extra graphics stuff and unneccessary scenario folders and xxx.bix files

This way you can patch the main /CIV3PTW folder and it will be up to the v1.21 patch while you can still have quick access to the v1.14 patch in the interim process that may take several weeks for all games and all players to make the transition.

If you want to be more aggressive at eliminating duplicate file space you can make some informed decisons to eliminate some of the stuff like king units that may have no purpose in you play choices.

If you do patch, remember that you may have to double check some installed elements of the existing games to make sure that you may not have to reinstall some feeatures of the individual game setup.
