I'm trying to set up a site at geocities but it will only let me play midi files  , so now I've got a question:

How do I change mp3 files to midi? What program should I use? And where do I get the program?

ok it were 3 ;)

MP3 to midi.

Well...there are programs to turn MP3's to wavs, then wavs, to midis. But nothing directly from mp3 to midi. Now....Fishheads can tell you...I'm the midi man. I've got over 30 MB of midis. I probably have what you want or I can find it for you. That's probably easier then you downloading all this software to convert one of them.

Of course...I've never used the programs....but I know where to find them if you still want it. But just give me the song title....and I'll find the midi.

(You do realize that midi's CANNOT contains words right??)

you should try turning it into a wav
open the mp3 in windows media player and then choose the save option and save as a wav file :D

then try using it on ya site its worked for me in the past :D

Why would you? Better find a true midi file on the net. MP3 files (and wav files) are like recordings. Midi files are note sheets, like the conductor's score. Going from midi to wave/mp3 is trivial, that's exactly what your PC does when playing a midi file. Going the other way round is bound to bring trouble. Although Mozart was rumoured to be able to reverse-engineer music scores after hearing an orchestra playing, this is not an easy task for computers. At best, I guess you may get the main tune. Most instruments (and voice) will be lost, broken or awful.

I'll be happy to be proven wrong, but, as Corn says, better not bother.

Yep....Geocities will allow wav's to play too.....but (and this is the reason it wouldn't work because my sister had the same question) mp3s are compressed 12:1 (mostly) so when you uncompress a 3 MB MP3 to a wav it becomes 36 MB. For a 4 minute song. Now.....you don't want to use all your space on one file...plus Geocities only allows 15 MB of space. So the only viable option is the midi. Which super high-quality, enriched ones are like 30 kb.

That's why I like them soo much. I have 31.3 MB, 39:59.34 hours of midis. :D Plus two I made myself. And if you think...oh they probably suck....well your right. I'm not musical AT ALL!!
