Changing Religion in Into the Renaissance scenario

Is it possible to change your religion in this scenario? How do you change your state religion?

I don't think you can. Protestantism was stamped out pretty quickly in the game that I played, so I'm not certain, but I don't see how it would work without major changes from the basic religion system.

Playing as Russia, the other civs aggressively convert all of my cities to Catholicism. I was wondering if it is possible to convert my civ from Orthodox to Catholic. Later in the game, is it possible to convert to Protestant assuming it spreads to my cities?

Just in case any else ends up here via Google, I'll answer this old question: Once half your cities are protestant, the game will prompt you that you will now be considered protestant, and your religion (in the religion screen) will immediately update accordingly.

Once one of your cities is protestant, I found the best way to spread the religion was to use protestant inquisitors on your own cities (ie. use them on the cities that are still catholic).
