Build queues for the province of Istar:

Fox's Nest: Knights until further notice
Eyr: aqueduct, marketplace, harbor (switch immediately from pikemen)
Khatovar: Aqueduct, marketplace, Cathedral
Asyut: Library, then temple or whatever the military feels is necessary to increase it's defense
Malinalco: library, temple, marketplace
Lutetia: harbor, temple or whatever the military feels is necessary to increase its defense.

I have recently been reminded that Macao is not part of a province with a governor, so I must decide the build queue. The foreign minister has offered to pay to rush the library, so this should be done at the outset. The queue should then be :

temple, then worker, then barracks

The build queue is: (key: "[c]" means current)

San Francisco: Library [c], Aqueduct, Cathedral
Atlanta: Library [c], Harbor, Knight
Civanatoria: Market[c], Knight, Cathedral
New York: Market[c], Knight, Cathedral
Philadelphia: Market[c], University, Knight
Seattle: Library[c], Aqueduct, Market

Trades -

Iroquois

Spice --> Printing Press, 3GPT, 56 gold up front (entire treasury!)

Roads and Cities

- Suggestions

Build a road connecting the following:

(Note: much of these were not connected due to the "War Traffic" that went on in the last century, as well as the need for GPT, which lessened the strain on scientific research).

Horses NE of "Needs a name"
Iron NW of Elephantine
Ivory around Mephis and Abybos
Iron south of Civantoria
Gold north of Asyut (deforest)
Wheat and horse at the river near Boston, Chicago and Washington
Iron by New York
Horse east of Philly
Gold north of Callisto
Iron and gold around Heliopolos
Cattle by Alexandria (deforest - err.. dejungle?)

Science suggestions:

Increase science to 70% to get Gunpowder in 1 turn, at the cost of 26 gold. (Much better than current trade options *not* involving a ROP agreement)

As there is still some confusion over the budget, I will list the following projects in order of priority. Please rush as many as my budget will allow during the initial turn. As I understand it, I have 145 saved, plus 181 to split with the domestic department. The total of these 4 would be 272, which would take my savings and 2/3 of the remainder. If the 181 is split in half, I would still afford the first 3, with a little left over.

City Improv. Cost Results
Alexand. Library 84 Border, +1-2 cattle
Heliop. Library 76 Border, +1 wheat, Bonus Grass
Callisto Library 48 Culture pressure on Anyang (China)
Macao Library 64 Border, Gold Hill

BTW I will not be able to attend the chat tomorrow, I have to travel after work. I will be notifying my deputy and/or chat rep to fill in.

Any revisions will be posted this evening, as I cannot run Civ3 to look at the save game until then. My computer at work just isn't up to the task :(

Watch this space.

Here is the building queues for our great province of Normandy

PDX: Courthouse(or forbidden palace if we get enough support)
/university/ marketplace
Washington: settler/ Courthouse
Boston: Barracks/ Courthouse / aqueduct
Miami: Temple/ Courthouse
Pherris: Cathedral / Marketplace
Shailonegha: knights
Chicago: Temple/ Courthouse
Port Gisnod: harbor/ Courthouse
New falcons heaven: Aqueduct/ Knights

Science Department:

Get Gunpowder from an ROP

Get the Printing Press with Chieftess's proposal

If we get Gunpowder immediatly change to Chemistry.

If we get Education through The GL change from Chemistry to Banking.

I might not be here tonight due to Baseball.

Just to clarify, the Trade and Foreign Affairs Depts. are currently discussing whether to obtain the above 2 techs using ROPs or luxury trades.

Turn 0
  1. Pay for rushing a library in Macao (part of the Cultural Assault plan).
  2. Immediate ROP deals (each deal has an ROP in addition to the detail listed)
  • Aztecs - Get their entire treasury plus as much g/t as possible.
  • Rome - Get 3 g/t plus 23 gold plus World Map
  • Greece - Give 6 gold, get Gunpowder
  • China - Get 6 gold and World Map
  • Babylon - Get 26 gold

Turn 1
  1. Increase our straight gift to the Iroqois to 2 g/t.
  2. Hold 50 gold in the Departmental Budget. Return the balance of the budget to the general treasury.
  3. ROP deals:
  • Iroqois - get as much of their treasury as possible, then as much g/t as possible.
  • India - get as much g/t as possible then as much of their treasury as possible.
  • Zulu - get as much of their treasury as possible, then as much g/t as possible.

Pls. see Trade Dept. thread on how these techs will be obtained.

Eyrei: it is certainly within your rights to build what the military department feels necessary but part of the reason for having the build queues laid out ahead of time is to reduce the time made for such decisions during turn chat. I realize it may take awhile for the improvements to be built in these two cities but there is always the possibility they will be rushed. Please specify what Asyut should build after the library.

I urge all governors to lay out their build queues three builds deep for each city. It is always within your rights to change your own build queues even during turn chat so specifying does not lock you into a build queue.

One final suggestion is that the president (or acting president as the case may be) actually enter each governor's build queues for each city. Then as play continues the president can note what is built and what is to be built now for the chat log record. There really need be no discussion during turn chat about what to build next unless there is a constitutional over-ride of the build queue.

As a true peacemonger, I prefer to stay out of military strategy. If the military wishes to take control of the build queue after the library, they may. Otherwise, Asyut should build a temple. I will update my first post.

Excellent idea! I urge the president to implement this immediately.

Hope it's not too lote for these!

Using eyrei's newest budget here are the figures:

Military: 145 saved + 60 (20%) = 229 gold
Foreign Affairs: 345 gold saved
Trade: 60 gold
Science: nothing to spend
Culture: 145 gold saved
Domestic & Culture: 181 gold (60%)

Total 960 gold

Note: Please remember to check to sci/tax take periodically to see if more gold can be brought in without prolonging research times.:)

Excelent model of information organization ,these chat instruction thread's really seem to work well.

But we should keep these thread's free of discussion ,or atleast try to..
