Summary:

We have been warned about an Elucidian Settler and another Warrior that is heading for the northern chokepoint. ETA is 4-5 turns. Elucidia is aparently trying to build cities around Poly to block them in. And Poly got a nice big world map with embassy-views and Map Making in about 7-9 turns.

Apolyton wants: Horseback Riding, Philosophy, Math, Currency, and maybe Literature and Construction. They have a trade for mysticsm and another tech with GCA, in return for Map Making.

No one has Horseback Riding or Philosophy, and Poly wonders if we are going to research any of those.

Finaly Togas proposed this trade (it's still unofficial I think):
CFC give Math + HBR + WM for MM + WM.

Except for that horseback riding thing, that looks good. I would like to leave it in, but we are already commited to trade other techs with Elucidia, and inclusion would slow down that commitement.

Hrm... the details you list are slightly erroneous cheetah...

They proposed that we trade Mysticism, Horseback Riding and WM for Map Making and WM. They said they are going to get Math from CDG.

I think we should look closely at the possibility of researching Horseback Riding, but only if it can be done in a short number of turns. But I strongly caution against rushing into this proposed trade. We are obligated to provide Construction to CDG as part of our tech trade deal with them. Even if we obtain MM from APO, I believe we should still research Construction and trade it to CDG, for anything they have, even at a loss to us, if need be.

It would be the only honorable thing to do considering that as of that time, they would have already traded us Mathematics and Writing (16 pts) for Ceremonial Burial and Mysticism (6 points). To be clear, I'm not blindly opposed to this trade, but we must still live up to our obligations to CDG.

I don't think we need this trade. Here's why.

a) We are already binded into a trade with CDG for Map Making.
b) Why research an extra tech to get Map making?
c) The only thing in this we need from them is their WM, and we will not need Horseback riding to get it.

I agree Goonie, but if we could modify the CDG trade... then it might make sense.

Of course, it all depends on how quickly we can research HBR and Construction....

Guess I was sligthly wrong about the trade.

If we don't sign this trade I'm sure Poly would want to sell us their world map for something.

I think we should definitely try for their WM.

Though, I imagine that whatever they're willing to trade for Construction, they'll throw in their maps for free as Construction is quite an expensive tech.
