Cherokee and Choctaw Ideas?

I am making a Cherokee and a Choctaw Civilization for a Christmas present for my dad (since he is part Cherokee and part Choctaw) but the UU, UB, and UA I have kinda suck. (In my opinion)

I have a lot of art done and all the codes, but I still need Unique Units/ Buildings and a Unique Ability for both, any ideas?

I would like to have a pre-colonial UU, a colonial UU, and/or a pre-colonial UB

Only thing I can think of is Cherokee Rifleman, and that's because of Age of Empires. Try talking with the guy that posted the native American ideas in the Civ 5 Civilizations / Leaders wanted! Topic.

What I have for the Mississippians are the Chunkey Yard and Mound UB, and the Falcon Dancer UU. They might be appropriate for the pre-colonial Cherokee or Choctaw (don't know much about their history). Feel free to take from Uomo Unversalis what you need!

All I can think of right now with the Cherokee is:
A) I know a lot of Cherokees...
B) The Trail of Tears, which is almost certainly considered offensive, in this case.

Well I had a makeshift version of the civs done by Christmas, but I was planning on improving it and mabye posting here on CivFanatics.
Thanks for all your help with this so far, and hopefully I can get some more...

I was thinking about making a mod similar to the Forgotten Tribes mod (which is abandoned I guess), and I'm open to any suggestions. I'd appreciate any ideas on Uniques, Leaders, Cities, etc., to save me doing a ton of research.

For now, I was planning on making the 5 civilized tribes, but I've noticed since their cultures were very similar, it'd be hard to make them all have 2 different Unique UUs/UBs and a UA, so plz help with that.

Ahh, that would be a good idea considering I AM in the group. Alright, I'll add it. First we need a name though. Any suggestions?

Ideally, something from a Native American language, though I can't think of anything useful off the top of my head. Searching currently.

Additionally, I'd keep it to the U.S. and Canada (and that little French island off of Newfoundland, if appropriate), to simplify scenarios (and, since Mesoamerica can hold its own in civs).

It's not a full idea, but something from a Laurentian language might be good.
They (or at least their language) aren't around anymore, but it appears to be the source of "Canada".

I was thinking something in Lakota/Dakota like Great Tribes (which would be Tanka Oyate (I don't know if I add an 's' to make it plural)) or something along those lines. If you have any ideas on what it should be called in English, I can find what its called in Lakota and translate it.

That'd work. And I don't think the plurality/lack of plurality will be too bad (especially considering the Terra Novus is grammatically improper).

Which would mean we have to include the Sioux in it (This is only the NA portion, right? We're having a seperate Mesoamerica - South America one?

Mexico south will be in a different mod (or mods, not entirely certain yet)

Plus, if you didn't include the Sioux in a Native American mod, I think there would be protests (regardless of your reasoning, I'm partial to the Southwestern and Eastern groups, myself).
