There's always been so much discussion around Turn Timers and methods of speeding up gameplay in multiplayer. Has anyone seen the idea of a Chess Clock (Game Clock) being used in the game? Something that allots a chunk of time to each player that they continuously pull from each turn, and once that time runs out... well, game over for that player!

Perhaps a mod (not sure if possible. I'm a total mod noob.) Or maybe it's something that could be controlled outside of game somehow.

Has anyone tried this out or explored ways to do it. Any successes with it? What problems came up?

Sounds horrible, why would you want to cut a game short right in the middle? That's pretty much the same as playing with a quitter. Also, your performance at one point in time where the game ends may not be indicative of who actually would end up winning the game.

This would also severely hinder those who choose to go to war or play wide and give a huge advantage to those who play tall and wonder whore with nothing to do during their turns.

Definitely agree with the second point :D
Not with the first though, as the analogy is done with chess: in chess if you run out of time even with a winning position, you're the one to blame for it. If you played faster you might not end with a winning position ...

One way to do it is to have a game clock that represents about 1/3 of how long it should take you to complete the game, but add a certain amount of time per turn. Either that, or have a turn limit with a time bank that is automatically tapped into throughout the game (for the cases where you need extra time).
