Choice that is not a Choice (bug maybe?)

Hello,

Just started running C2C again for the first time in a long time and ran into something that I am not sure if it is a bug.

Situation is this: Less than 50 turns into the game, a forest fire happens very close by as a random event. I get three choices.
1) Spend a bunch of money to replant. This choice is not available, because I do not have the money. That button is not green.
2) Spend less money on fixing things (300 gold) to fix some things. That button is green
3) Spend no money, too much going on to help, effect is temporarily 3 unhappy faces in the village. That button is curiously not green.

I had the money to do (2), but did not want to do (2), because I wanted to reserve the money for upgrades of units. So I clicked on (3), thinking perhaps it would light up. It did not. I was not allowed to select the third button and save the gold.
There were 25 happy faces and 3 unhappy faces at the same time, so another 3 unhappy faces would not have greatly affected the situation. Those 3 unhappy faces would have faded over time, according to the dialogue in the event box.

Why did I not receive the choice of saving the gold at the expensive of temporary unhappiness? Is there a reason for this? I would understand the forced choice if the unhappiness would have tipped the village into an unhappy collection of malcontents starting a new fire to protest not repairing the damage from the old one, but that was not the situation here.

So why did the event force me to spend almost all of my gold?
 
This sounds like it's a bug, there's been quite a bit of work done on events recently. Did you start this game from the SVN released yesterday? I've passed it on to the person working on the events in the Caveman 2 Cosmos discord server as they tend not to watch the forums.

Edit: Just got a reply, it will be fixed in the next SVN release.

To answer the version question, I downloaded the SVN on Friday (8/30/24).

Also, thanks for letting the person working on events about it. Happy to hear the quick response for the issue. I appreciate your help as well as the events person fixing the matter.

Events hadn't previously been worked on for years so I'm glad there is now someone on the team addressing them.
 
I always play with events OFF.
Whenever "new events" get SVN'd, they typically (including this time) "leak over" also into the "events OFF game".
Just saying.

It's a pretty deep rework of the events system from what I understand but I can't vouch or speak about it.

I was not aware that section of the game had been dormant in regard to revisions. I am glad someone is working on it now. :-) I wish them the best of luck with the work!
