Christianism

If I may make a suggestion, S-o-G, don't get outraged at asinine comments. It's just too time consuming! It would be nice to engage in inter-religious dialogue in a civil environment, but such are few and far between.

That said, if folk want to have a slug-fest over Christianity or any other religion, take it to Off-Topic. In this thread we're working with wonder splashes etc.

A thing is the religion, a thing is the period of it. You must remember that catholic church is composed by humans and humas can make errors. So, some errors are made in the name of religion: crusade, reconquista, colonization of new world...

Pope have ammitted the Catholic church's errors on its hystory, dont forget!

Exactly right Rufus!

Actually come to think it, wouldn't a better wonder splash for Christianity be Jesus rising from the dead in a column of light? I mean, Christian faith is based upon the death AND resurrection of Christ(I'd know, I am one).

 Geez, now its open season on Christianity here. Like usual, not one once of outrage from anyone.

And I would hardly say Christianity ******** science, quite the opposite actually! Did you know that the Hospital was a Christian Invention? Or that acclaimed medical scientists such as Louis Pastur were Christians?

A)Hospitals have a history stretching back to at least 400 years BC in the hey day of ancient AThens, hardley a christian invention

B)was pasture acting in the interest of chrsitianity, or science when he made his discovery? if it was sciennce, it dopsetn matter what religion he was, dose it?

It seems to me, to capture the most important event of Christ's crusifiction/resurrection, the splash would show the empty tomb? Is not the crux of Christianity his Resurection? As for the other religions, might I suggest:

Islam: The black marble cube in Mecca (Sorry, forget its name).
Judasim: Either a scene of Abraham and his son at the altar, with a Ram in the thickets, or Mose parting the Red Sea, or with the 10 Commandments.
Buddhism: Buddah under the Tree, or The Wheel
Mormonism: The finding of the Golden Tablets
Druidism: Definatly NOT Stonehedge, this was preDruid.
Atheism: Not sure. As an Atheist, the is no symbol to my non-beleif. Maybe just a blank? ;-)

Christ was died on the cross, but resurrected after 3 days on the holy sepulcre. For other wonder, Kaaba (this is the name ;)) is already made. For other, for judaism the right would be Abraham and God's promise.

For Atheism I think showing the big-bang theory, Darwinism, an X, or a flame. As an Atheist myself I don't know what to put.. those four choices are the best I could come up with.

As for Druidism, I would put a mound of earth with fairies simulating the Tuatha de Danann.

No, the 'Big Bang' theory would not work for Atheists, it was origonaly put forward by various Theists who argued that since the universe had a beginning, there must be a God. The prevailing 'Static State' theory of the time was often used as 'proof' of the absence of divinity.

Yes, the new splash is indeed much more obvious and "themed".
Thanks.

I agree........most people seeing this picture with the word "Christianity" above it should be able to figure it out pretty easily. The scene is historically accurate and a guard would have been posted to the bitter end to prevent any sort of public intervention.

Putting nothing would probably work best. :D

Seriously, neither the big bang nor Darwinism are necessarily anti-religious. Cf. Bobby Dread's post above; note also that some of Darwin's earliest defenders were natural theologians. An "X" is the first letter of "Christ" in Greek (Chi-Rho is a common Christian symbol -- and the X in "Xmas" is just an abbreviation of "Christmas" :)), the X is St. Andrew's cross, and is commonly called a "cross" (St. Andrew's or not). Probably not the best choice, then. Flames have that "spark of divinity" thing to them too, so maybe not the best choice either.

So yeah, maybe a nice big blank splash would be the most appropriate. The nothing splash.

For agnosticism one could have a big giant question mark.

fpr atheism, I would think that a smashed altar would be most appropreate

That works.

I would have to agree with Xen on that, I would have no clue about what that is, I mean on all the other wonders its rather obvious right off what they are, dont you want to keep with the general quality of the game?
