As some of you may know Christmas is fast approaching and i was wondering what we are going to do? Are we going to postpne the demoagme for a week, as some people might not be able to get online due to Christams

Mostly on Christmas Ill would be visiting with relatives. While On new years, Ill be possibly be eating out.

I will still check in the forums from time to time during that time.

Well we can have a Christmas Banquet in the RPG that would last from Christmas to New Years. :)

That's an excellent idea. I'll talk to the RPG managers.

Also, I guess we can assume Eklektikos will postpone chats for a while.

My main concern is elections, since nominations would (arrcording to the CoS) begin Christmas Eve.

This is a difficult problem, as postponing things for a week would effectively be shortening our elected officials' terms by a week.
As for nominations, they may begin on the 24th, but they don't end until the polls open, which is the 29th. That shouldn't be too much of a problem... I think.

Bah Humbug! I don't see why we have to shut anything down. If R/L takes you away from the forums, so be it. I think we should keep religion and politics separate... :)

@Cyc: don't you think that it is a little early for seperation of church and state?

Agreed. I don't see any reason to change anything. If there is lack of participation, those people in leadership positions (or those who inherit them temporarily because their 'boss' can't make it) will run the game.

As far as nominations and elections go, if you would like to run for an office, and you know you won't be available to accept any nominations, please PM me, and I will make sure you are on the ballot.;)

Besides, they are open for several days...

I personally think we should stay with the DG. Did we cancel the DG for Hanukah? No. Some Jewish people might not have been able to play during Hanukah when the DG was still runnning so we shouldn't suspend it for a week for the holidays. I for one will on the forums on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as I will most likely get PTW and be playing. I think the show must go on, especially with elections. Also, if we suspended the DG for a week, then that would as effectively shorten Term 4 officials terms in ofice by a week, which seems kind of unfair to me since nothing like that has happened to any other officials.

I have no intention of suspending turnchats for the xmas period. However I can guarantee that turn chats will not be scheduled for xmas eve or xmas day, since those days will be no more convenient for me than for many of you.

Merry Humbug!

and new years day and new years eve?
New years day falls in term 5, and NYE is another date certain to be inconvenient for me to hold a turn chat, so I'll not be scheduling one then either.

1. I don't think we should have the demogame turn chat on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day. A lot of people go out to see their families, or go to church. Maybe on the 26th.

2. I think the elections would be fine, since you only need an hour to scan through the nominations. True, the vote counts might be lower, which means a lower quorum. :D

3. Hey, I think TF put up those Christmas Smilies! :D :) ;) :hmm:  - testing...

As already stated, there will not be a turn chat on either of those days. No further convincing was required :)

T'would be unconstitutional to hold elections at any other time. Not to mention complicated and confusing. :D
