City Notes

Is there any way to put notes on cities? I know the ALT+S thing allows short labels, and the name can be changed too, but I mean something like having a notepad open so I can write in things I intend to do, what I've done, what my purpose for the city is, etc. The Strategy layer is good for drawing on the map, ALT+S is good for marking tiles, but I would like to be able to put more in depth notes within cities.
I guess that a similar thing could be of some use for units too. Maybe to mark out where you are sending the unit, or when you made it, or any other things the player may like to note about a particular unit.

Anyone got any ideas?

Rename the unit. Do this by clicking the name belonging to a unit and change it.

I know that the unit can be renamed, as can the city, but I was more concerned with the cities and want more text than can fit into the name.

Oh, sorry then no. You could use acronyms though.

Try using the strategy layer, click on the gold helmet thingy when you are in planet zoom and you should be able to put labels on things.

You can't make very large notes unfortunately. My advice is to come up with some codes / shorthand notes and just use Alt-S. I'll mark what type of city, and any plans for National Wonders in one sign. For example I'd mark my main commerce city with "$$> WS", or my main military with "MM> HE WP". I also make lots of little notes about specific things I need to check/do at certain times, like reminding myself to wake all my sleepy workers when I finish teching railroads.

I'm a he also called Matthew oddly enough

I'm wondering whether I could maybe look at adding a mod myself to do this. I've never modded before but I do software for work so I guess I should be able to adjust.

Maybe adding notes to other civs would be good too. They can sit there keeping notes on why they hate you, I could do the same

They would be great, maybe you could make it compatible with Warlords 2.13 and a mac?
