I wonder if there is a good environment still for playing CIV1
I bought it long time ago (when it came out), but my floppy disks with it are useless now :( I haven't been able to get hold of it in a while (for W XP) Does anyone now where I can get it again?
(it should have been included in the Civ3 pack)

Frosty:rolleyes:

I think so too. I have a moderately well working, but yet frustrating Civ 1 for DOS. And I'm still wishing for Civ 1 for Windows to drop down right in front of me. It could nicely have been put as an "extra" to Civ 3. If nothing else people could then see where it all began:D

i have it on a cd. My version is from crucial entertainment, still the dos version. It doesn't work great with windows (i have 98) if you have sound enabled, but otherwise it works fine (in civ3 i don't have sound enabled either).
If you still want it check out amazon.co.uk, they should have it and otherwise Ebay. look around i say.

o and sealman: i think the last time i played it was a couple of weeks ago and its still fun. sure civ3 is better and everything, but sometimes playing civ1 is really fun (and relaxing)

Yes it should but who would want to play this old relic when the newer generation is much better? Nostalgalistic folks I guess. Me, I'd rather stay with with the newer and if I locate my copy, I would be happy to "GIFT" it to Frostboy.

Don't be stupid.

Thanks guys!

Yes I guess I am nostalgic and I do own a copy of CIV1 which I bought for a high enough price back 10 years ago.
I agree this post should have been on the CIV1 board (I just did this too fast without thinking of it)

But why dening old fans the joy of playing the old good game?
Perhaps a matter of distribution rights?
If not, I hope Civ1 along with Civ2 will be included in the Civ4 package in the future, although I really hope for Alpha Centauri2 to come first ( probably not :( )

i bought it at walmart last year. They had a clearance section with a CD called "The Explorer" Pack.

It has civ 1 (both windows and dos) and colinization (win and dos) which is another great game.

Frostyboy, if you need a copy of Civ 1, simply order a fresh one at Amazon for about 4-5 US$ or 5 Euro. Still available globalwide.

If you need a good, free software environment under Win XP, use DosBox 0.61 or AbandonLoader 0.80, both working great and stable (I'm using DosBox - ahh, typing all those commands to start the game just feels great!) :D

If only all problems could be solved so easily ... :)

They should releace a Civ1 Classic for Pocket PC.

Someone was working on a civ1 clone for pocket pc a while ago. i can help make a free version of a civ clone for pocket pc.. but i have no experience in c or pocket pc programing.
