Civ 2 Gold Edition Not Working!

Since Microprose tech support for this game is long extinct, I thought I'd go here. Maybe someone can help me. Civ2 Gold Edition isn't working. I click on the shortcut, and it just ignores my click and does nothing. Not even an error message. I try several times. I try activating Civ2 Unlimited. I try swapping between my Civ2 disks (all of which ToT activates on, BTW). I try repatching. I try uninstalling and reinstalling, then repatching. All said, it still just ignores my attempts to access Civ2 Gold. I'm on Windows 7, but I'm quite sure that OS has run it before. Can someone please help?!

Try renaming the civ2.exe to something else.

Could it be that Windows 7 or your Anti Virus program is identifying Civ2.exe as a potential virus and is blocking it from starting? If this is the case there should be somewhere you can go to to add it to a list of safe applications. Just an idea.
