I have not played Civ 3 for the better part of 20 years, but I still remember how much I enjoyed the game.

I've kept around a copy of the Behind the Scenes video that came with the bonus disc of the game since when I bought it back in 2002 or so. Now, recently I noticed that there did not seem to be a copy of the short video available on YouTube, so I went ahead and uploaded it myself just now.

So here you go -- perhaps a number of you will feel a similar sense of appreciation and nostalgia that I feel for it:

A very good idea to post that video (so the graphical quality is not the best)!

I especially like the images of the Civ 3 creators and artists at that time.
Does anybody know more about the Civ 3 interface in 'houseform' that can be seen in some parts of the video ?

Can we all take a moment to appreciate the typeface clarity in this screenshot?

What happened between then and final release?

I felt sorry for the guy enthusing about the animation, given that the game seems hellbent in moving the camera to the other side of the world whenever I instigate combat in multiplayer.

I'm not 100% certain but the "Do not auto-select units in Multiplayer" option might have something to do with that, just from what I understood from Suede's latest video on settings (relevant bit at 7:46):

Thanks. But that option is also very substandard as you have to then hunt down and guess which of your units have moves remaining and manually select each one in turn. Thankfully turnbased is an entirely manageable game mode for 2 player multiplayer, without too much wasted time.
