A friend is interested in joining a multiplayer game, but he's only really been playing vanilla Civ 3. As I've been playing C3C exclusively since it came out (and am feeling particularly lazy today), does anyone have a list of differences between C3C and vanilla anywhere? And please do N O T point me to the stickied discussion at the top of the forum. At last count, there are somewhere between ten and 37,000 pages on that one, and as he has a day job, I don't intend to waste his time by having him sort through a thread the first page of which consists of speculation about the "forthcoming" C3C and what it "might" contain.

Thanks for any/all help!

If you have the manuel for C3C, I beleive there should be a list of what is different between vanilla and Conquests.

In summary, if this helps, the major differences I can think of that affect gameplay:
- 16 more civs with new abilities; more resources, more wonders, more city improvements
- MGL cannot rush wonders anymore, only SGL.
- AI cannot use armies.
- specialist units like policemen, scientists work much better now, and courthouses etc. work much better to reduce corruption

Armies are much more powerful now. They now have blitz ability, they can heal much faster and in enemy territory, and they can autopillage. The great leaders have changed also. There are two separate genres.
1. Military Great leaders. The now cannot be used to rush Great Wonders. They can rush anything else and they can be used to make armies.
2. Scientific Great Leaders. They can be used to rush Great Wonders or used to have a Scientific Golden age (it does not work though, I would never use it even if it did work).
There two more civ traits. Agricultural and Seafaring. With the introducation of these two some of the original civs have had there civ traits realigned. Agricultural means that the civ gets 1 food bonus for the centre tile and irrigated desert tiles are like irrigated plain tiles. Seafaring Civ get the bonus of 1 movement for all ships, the center tile get a commerce bonus if the city is on the shore and the chance of sinking outside of the ships safe sea tile is less than non-seafaring civ's ships.
These are three of the many changes that makes C3C a much better game than the previous Civ games.
