Civ 4 Beyond the Sword loading Problem

I am having a major problem with Civilization Beyond the Sword.

I have Civilization 4 and play it all the time. I decided to buy Beyond the Sword today. It installed without a problem however when I started the game it went into a choppy loop when the 2K symbol came up on the screen. I went and installed the 3.19 patch and it still chops up and freezes on startup. To make matters worse when I went back to play my original Civilization 4 it does the same thing now. Civ 4 had always played on my PC before but now it is doing the same thing as BTS.

I am stumped and will take all the help I can get. I know someone on here knows how to fix this.

I am using a Dell Dimension 2400 with a 2.8GHz Pentium 4, 1 Gig of Ram, and a Nvidia Geforce 5200 with the latest drivers

OK this situation keeps getting weirder. Now my Command and Conquer First Decade is doing the same thing. It is choppy at the very start and I wait and wait for it to finally get to the options screen but it never does. It just stay in a choppy loop.

Earlier this week my Monitor slot in the back of my CPU stopped working. The monitor would no longer work when I connected it to the slot, so I ended up having to connect it to my Nvidia Geforce 5200 monitor slot. Tonight was the first time I have tried to play my games since I switched the Monitor connections.

Could this have anything to do with the problems I am having loading all of my PC games now? I have been noticing that my monitor has been auto adjusting a lot while I am online, or on my PC period.

So for the long posts, but this is driving me up the wall. I want to play Beyond the Sword something bad.

Hi.

Ok. First of all, I'm assuming that your motherboard graphics output is broken, and now you're using a discrete graphics card (the 5200)? What OS are you using? Did you make any adjustments in the computer's BIOS before this happened? Have you checked to make sure the motherboard's internal graphics card is still enabled in BIOS?

The 5200 is a pretty old card, but it should still play Civ just fine, and it shouldn't be auto adjusting on you when you're doing other things. You may have a more serious problem than just that. There may actually be a hardware problem with your motherboard, and that's a bit beyond my ability to help you with, sorry. And being a Dell, it may be hard to find replacement parts to fix it for a reasonable price. In the long run, it may be cheaper to upgrade.

Need Help !

I bought Civ IV complete three weeks ago and after havin g enjoyed playing the game fpr about ten days I now have a technical problem and no idea how to solve it: BY LOADING A GAME ( NEW OR SAVED) THE UNITS ARE INVISIBLE ! I have a new pc ( 4 weeks old) and compability is not the problem. I tried so solve the problem by trying to uninstall the software but it didn`t help

you likely enabled the bare map mode - one of the buttons above the minimap in the right hand corner turns that off

I had the same problem as jämzä on Beyond the sword, and it turned out it was the bare map (invisible Units, not load units, error graphic, etc..), solved by pressing CTRL + B.

Yo tenia el mismo problema que jämzä en beyond the sword, y al final resultó que era el bare map (Unidades invisibles, no carga de unidades, error grafico), solucionado presionando CTRL + B.
