CIV 4 COLO Stops Responding

I got CIV 4 Colo.i installed using the recommended instalation package but I start the game do a quick play select all the stuff i want in the game and start it.It loads normally then i click start game.i get the menu with my stats and leader but then it freezes, blacks out and im at my desktop with a box saying (CIV 4 COlO. has stopped responding). How do i fix this?

im currently running vista and have civ4 and civ colo.

apologies for bumping up an old post, but I'm experiencing this problem as well.

I installed Civilization IV Complete, which includes in it a copy of Civilization IV Colonization.
Civ 4 works fine, but Colonization doesn't.

While I can choose my colony, and other options, my computer boots me out of the program before I can start my first turn.

If anyone has a solution for this, could you please respond.
