Buttload refers to people with big rear ends, thus is a commentary on gluttony and wasteful living. It certainly does not refer to the innuendo you are implying, not in my book anyway. As you say, not only is it disgusting but it gives a context that does not apply to the intended usage/meaning.
Anyway, I saw a comic, I don't remember who, that did a bit on the differences between the two words. It was pretty funny.

Anyway, back to the important question: without buttloads, how would we measure things that aren't the same size as a shirtload, axeload, butt-ton, and cubic-butt-ton? (Some names changed to protect the innocent.) I think your comic is wrong. Was it George Carlin? Chris Rock? They're not always right, you know.
