Civ 4 install problems w/Disc 2

When I try to install the game, Disc 1 goes through perfectly. However, when the popup comes up and says to insert Disc 2, Explorer pops up with a "Data3" file that is more of a CD writer/burn file than anything. When I click "Continue" on the popup, it stalls and times out. Anyone else have this problem or could help me through it please?

Try copying the contents of the disc to your hard drive and install from there. Sometimes another PC will read the disc and allow the files to be copied if yours will not. You can also try gently cleaning the disc. If this doesn't work and you have just purchased the game I would take it back and get a replacement.

thanks...do I copy BOTH disc 1 and disc 2 to my HD? Or just one of the discs? Can you walk me through please? Sorry to be a bother.

In most cases just copying the problem disc is ok, but there have been some reports of it then not allowing you to change from the original disc location to the hard drive location for the second disc. I would try just copying the one first, if it doesn't let you browse to the new location then copy the other as well. It may still not cure your problem if the disc is damaged.

It worked...thank you so much!
