I have a new Windows 7 64-bit system with Civ 5 installed. I would like to install my old Civ 4 programs (Civ 4, Warlords, and Beyond the Sword). Should I install them one at a time and patch them one at a time? I like Civ 5 but I'm tired of it locking up mid game and being forced to save the game before each "next move" cycle.

Thanks for any advice.

  1. install Vanilla
  2. patch Vanilla
  3. Warlords
  4. Warlords patch
  5. BTS
  6. BTS patch

You can leave out Warlords if you wan't to save some space (about 500 megs), BTS doesn't need any files from it.

After that test that BTS works, and then i would highly recommended to download the BUG mod with BULL since they contain many nice UI improvements.

If you intend to play mods you may find it better to install Civ 4 into C:\GAMES\CIV4\

Also this is how I installed mine

install Civ4 to C:\GAMES\CIV4
patch to 1.61
install Warlords
patch to 2.08
patch to 1.74
patch to 2.13
Install BtS
patch to 3.17
patch to 3.19
