Civ 4 ??

Im a dyed in the wool civ 3 man but my disc bust and cant install it!
if i dont buy civ 3 but move up to civ 4 -what are the diffs
which is better??

ive played both and trust me civ 4 is way better. i can list all of the differences but that will take to long. look it up

I would certainly buy Civ 4, it's and awesome game. I don't know about Civ 3 though, i didn't like it much

Definitely get Civ4. It's far superior to Civ3 in all respects. You won't regret it.

For starters, the entire trading system has been overhauled and is much better than Civ3.

The folowing is a highly generalised observation of attitudes to CivIII and CivIV:

1) People who thought that CivIII was a step back in the Civ series (of which there were a lot) tend to think that CivIV is excellent.
2) People who tought that CivIII was an excellent step forward in the Civ series tend to think that CivIV is no where near as good.

I found CivIII to be poor - some good ideas poorly implemented - and CivIV to be great - good ideas well implemented - but there are a lot of CivIII players who hate CivIV. You'll see the odd one in the CivIV forums - usually complaining about it - but I'd imagine they tend to hang out in the CivIII forum.

I haven't read either of them but there were two recent threads in this forum, "Civ3 Players Will Not Move On" and "CivIII vs. CivIV by Phoenix" that probably go into the differences that CivIII fans didn't like.

Its really pure opinion. I enjoy both and I think both have their advantages over the other but I recommend civ4 because it offers more depth/moddability/options/etc. Of course having both is fine.
