Hey guys, I have decided to sign up here and ask for help due to a problem I have with Civ 5, which is making the game unplayable for me.
Firstly, specs;
Custom built PC with windows 8 pro
AMD FX 6100 six core processor, 3.3GHz
4GB RAM
460GB Hard Drive
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS (two of them)
All drivers are up to date; display drivers, sound drivers, graphics card drivers, you name it.
I have DirectX 11
Now my problem. I simply cannot play the game, for more than maybe 20 minutes, without recieving the error message 'civ 5 has stopped responding' followed bya quick closure of the game. This happens on both the dx 9 and the 10/11 startup option, however the game lasts longer on dx9. Sometimes I may be able to play around 45 minutes before it happens on 9, however on 10/11 I don't think I have ever completed a turn.
Initially the problem was different. I used to get graphics renderer error crashes until I updated my drivers, and now it simply seems that I have fixed that problem and came up with another. I am confused because I can play planetside 2 on good settings without problems, I just do not understand why civ 5 will not work properly. I read somewhere that the nvidia GTS series has problems with civ, is that the problem?
Any help would be great and I can provide more info if nessecary, thanks
