Inspired by both my topic "Which leaders do you normally ally with/make enemies with?" and the UU&UB/UU thread (not my thread...thank you Santa Maria!), I have decided to create an elimination thread for the Civ 5 Leaders. I could not believe some of the responses in the thread, and so out of curiosity, I have decided to start this game.

For anyone who's curious, this is the original ally/enemy thread:http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=480400

As for the game, we'll operate under similar rules to the UU/UB Thread. Every player starts out with 20. You must +1 to one leader and -2 to one leader. You may only "vote" once per day. You can base your decisions off of whatever you want.

This list includes my first turn.

Sweden: 20

Reasoning (optional of course): Persia has no loyalty. Darius I has always been a ridiculous war mongerer when I have played him. France, on the other hand, is an interesting civilization with one of my favorite units (The Musketeer).

Have fun!

I also vote against Persia but for different reasons. The guy always seems to dominate on my maps - it's not the dominating that bothers me, it's the horrifying sight of McDonalds colors. Aesthetic crime, if there ever was one. Also, like many leaders Darius seems to have a stick up his arse

I grew up on islands so I can dig the whole Polynesia vibe. Love the music, love the voice acting, love the colors. Beachside huts and old-school ships? That's my kind of leader

Hey, this thread's already been done.

Well if you guys are up for a sequel I'm game. If not, we can shut this thread down
Well, I'm in for the sequel!
Reasoning (optional of course):
I don't think the reasoning should be optional, as you say:
You can base your decisions off of whatever you want
I think it is fun (and essential) to know the reasons for voting. And it would make this thread different from the previous one.

India: Gandhi as the peaceful leader, until he researches the Manhattan Project? :nuke: I love it.
Ottomans: In my current game (Giant YnAEMP map, Rome, Prince, Marathon), Denmark DoW'd me, Ottoman followed, Greece and France too, as the two latter are closer to me they sent troops who were defeated pretty fast, so they made peace, Denmark finally made peace after a while, and Suleiman is still asking everything and my last born to make peace, even if I never saw any of their military units since the start of the war (and I have the army to defend). So... -2 for him!

Edit: I just saw the latest moderative decision about elimination threads and I'm sorry, I didn't want to spam the General Discussions section!

Rome: I don't make enemies exactly, I just try to take 'em out early which is not very friendly. Once they get a few cities, the UA gets them lots of gold. I try to hit Rome before he can start spamming Legions and Ballistas and whoop on me too hard.

Egypt: I let Ramses build wonders while I build my military. He's always been a good trading partner for me too, so I trade x-lux for same to keep happiness up. I try to hold off taking him out until mid-game or until I have enough of an army to roll from him to my next target civ. Then get the big points boost.

Spain (along with France) ALWAYS declares war on me. I hear people complain about Monty and others, but Spain and France and the ones who always route me. I'm picking Spain today because when SHE declares war on me, she kicks my ass.

Kamehameha (Polynesia) always stays out of my way, or becomes a friend. Never had a war with him. THAT's something I like in a neighbor.

Stupid Alexander with his stupid face and stupid smug look and stupid arrogance.

Turn 1: Hi! Nice to meet you. My name is Alexander.

Turn 2: Your army, culture, economy, and everything about you sucks. You're pathetic and deserve to die. *declare war*

Worse, he is in every single one of my games. RNG is not random; I swear the game hates me and puts this prick in every time just to taunt me.

Boudica and the Celts, however, have been nothing but awesome since I got Gods and Kings. She always has a ton of cash to purchase items from me; she is typically one of the civs with higher points meaning she won't hate me for winning the game; she rarely goes to war with me.

The only downside I have encountered with her is it can be difficult to compete religions with her, but not a huge issue since by the second half of the game faith is really only good for purchasing GP. And even then she is rarely super aggressive with Great Prophets... unlike *cough* Pacal *cough*

My idea. Just saying.

- 2 to Catherine

Catherine just wants to build 50 cities up my ass and then backstab me at the worst possible moment.

+1 to Gustavus

Gustavus just wants to be my friend. Always a gentleman that guy. Loves to trade.

That elimination was who you like to play as, not your opinion of the other leader's behaviors. And maybe as such, we can consider changing our tally from civ names to leader names? Seems more appropriate.

Iroquois: Expands so fast, neighboring next to him in the early game is always a super pain, and you have to be the bad guy about it! If you manage to get the land, well, he's gonna be the bad guy about it. And DoF's mean nothing to him.

Mongolia: Dunno where he gets his reputation from, but Mongolia and I are always tight. Well, usually until there's nobody else left for him to fight. Then it's let the best man win. But at least he's consistent about it.

Up to Babylon. Never been backstabbed, if I don't do anything outrageous he'll work with me. And unlike some of the others I was tempted to upvote, he is a threat to win. Only downside is he doesn't seem to overlook my warmongering ways as easily as some of the others.

Down to Catherine. Even with distance between us she is a tough one to manage. She'll backstab, denounce, and expand rapidly into my space. Especially troubling is that she isn't unanimously hated like some of the others on the list. This makes it difficult because she isn't an easy target when it comes to ostracizing her from the rest of the community. On the positive side she isn't a religion peddler like some of the others that I don't get on with.

+1 - Denmark. Harold is a dude. I always get on well with him, although he does have an unfortunate habit of targeting City-States. In my current game we went to war early over his attacking Almaty. I had barely even begun to march my units over and he offers peace - and Aarhus. Despite agreeing to this he ends up becoming my best friend for the rest of the game. Not many AIs are that forgiving!

-2 - Inca. I hate this guy. Runaway, wonder-mongering, CS-ally-stealing little....

Japan: No matter what i do, whether i play peacefully or warmongering, Japan ALWAYS hates me. I don't remember any game where i have been friends with Japan for long time. Even when we are not in same continent, he still hates me. What's with this guy?

Sweden: Always nice friend to me, and gives nice bonus. If i don't plan for domination victory, i always try to keep Sweden as my friend whole game, but Sweden starts hating me if i warmonger too much (as all leaders do).

Maria always goes for Patronage, but even worse is that diplo marriage means I can't liberate city states that get in her chubby little hands.

As for William, he's always loyal, always in my game, and always willing to trade his luxuries.

China- Their UU combined with their UA make them a formidable opponent, and a powerful allie. When I'm not playing as Wu, she is usually my friend.

England- I will literally sit there for hours trying to close a deal with her.
Me: How about open borders for open borders?
Elizabeth: How about I give you open borders, and you give me all of your gold, all your tradable cities, and all your luxury and strategic resources?

China gets a GG spawn bonus from combat. With that, China is OP. Also, it has nothing to do with China's advancement. And with all the GG, it's only possible to keep them which wastes gold or construct a citadel. Wu Zetian seems to like couping CS which is very annoying.

France on the other hand gets +2 culture every turn which is very useful for a cultural victory. There UUs are also very useful. When Honor is chosen, barbarians will be very useful for that culture.

It would have been better if this thread had been created after BNW (less than 2 weeks at this point) to differentiate it from the other thread like this. Also, this thread is constantly described as a leader elimination thread in the title/OP but the list is of civs, not leaders (yes, each civ corresponds to only one leader but still...).
