CIV 5 won't quit fully in steam

Use the legacy launcher.

Open your task manager, show More Details so you can see background processes, then look for a process named "Qtwebengineprocess" and end it. Sometimes it doesn't properly quit after I quit the game, and it takes up ~10% of my CPU too. I think it's related to the new launcher.

actually just found the answer:
type ineedlegacyaccess in the box under beta under properties on steam.
Presto - no launcher

update:
No launcher, but game still won't quit properly.

The issue is the QTWebEngine processes they use to feed us information ads. You'll find a few of them lingering in your services in task manager eating, oh, 40% CPU in total. Buggers.

wow...actually on my computer just now, with only a browser and steam up, i had 3 simultaneous instances of QTWebEngine up, each taking 20% cpu.

Well some instances are benign or tied to video streams on your browser...but sometimes they don't get executed correctly and just...hang.

Ok...Now that i have manually quit all the QTweb stuff, this method of using the "ineedlegacyaccess" does work, confirmed. No more hang on quit.
